Thursday Journals

I love to keep photo journals of vacations, my creative side and our Thursday Journeys.  Each time we have a Thursday outing, I take photos, save mementos and gather information of where we visit.  The journals are just 7" x 10" and I have filled almost 2 of them so far.

Here are some of my favorite Thursday places we have visited in the last year and one half.

We took the AmTrak to San Juan Capistrano.  Even though we were both born in San Diego, neither of us had ever been to Mission San Juan Capistrano.  While we saw none of the famous swallows, it was so beautiful and peaceful. We had lunch in a cute cafe right next to the train depot.
Scripps Pier in La Jolla.  The pier is closed to the general public except during the summer when they hold monthly "moon walks".  The tour included a guided walk around Scripps Institution of Oceanography in the sunset and then a walk in the dark to the end of the pier.

San Dieguito County Park.  What a beautiful spot.  We started our hike on high ridges with dirt paths, suspension bridges and lookout towers.  The park drops down into a valley with lush green lawns, duck ponds and picnic areas.  We finished our day with a great Mexican lunch.

We took a photo caravan at the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park in Escondido.  What a treat!  With 4 other couples and 2 guides, we boarded a truck and were driven into a wild animal exhibit.  We fed giraffes and rhinos - it was amazing.

I will always treasure our Thursday Journeys - our time spent together and the new places we have visited.  The small journals will keep my memories alive for years to come.
