A Week of Summer in San Diego

Fog rolling in at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
The start of a triathlon on Coronado Island (my husband is in this group).
Sunshine on Mission Bay.

My sister is visiting from Texas and we are enjoying the cool, sunny days of San Diego.

Initials

After seeing this idea on someone's blog (sorry, I don't have the blog or designer's name) I gave it a try.

Using cardboard templates, I lightly copied my initials with pencil on watercolor paper.  Next, I filled in the spaces with watercolor doodles.  Once dry, erase the pencil lines and you have a bright and cheery creation!

Project Life

This week I started a "Project Life" type of scrapbook.  It will be so fun to put this together - a photographic journal, one week at a time!

Rounds of Colors

I just discovered collage artist Lance Letscher.  He creates the most amazing art using little clippings of colors.  I had to try his circular color wheels.  I drew circles on discarded watercolor paper then glued on wedges of colors I cut from old magazines.  The largest circle is 4" and the small one is 2 1/2".

I think these are the start for my journal cover - really fun and a great recycling idea for magazines!

July Block of the Month

The July block is called "Dulcet Star" and I used my favorite pinks and greens on it.

This month seems to be going by really fast and I'm playing catch up on a lot of my projects - but I'm having tons of fun and thats what counts!

July Calendar

I finally got the chance to create my July calendar.  I used watercolors and pens and since I'm making each month for art only, I filled the days with a large numbers.
I hope your July is filled with summer sun and fun!

10 Objects 10 Ways

I just completed a two day watercolor workshop with Jane LaFazio.  Starting with 2 journal pages, we divided them into small spaces and painted our objects using 10 different techniques.
Using the flowers, leaves and seed pods from two vines in my garden, I penciled, penned, painted and stamped my pages to create a summer memory.
As always, Jane's classes are filled with fun, laughter and friendship - plus great art lessons!
