The Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla is always a wonderful place to visit.
This is the view from their outdoor exhibit, La Jolla Shores Beach and La Jolla Village.
I could sit and watch their largest tank all day. It holds 70,000 gallons of fresh sea water that is pumped in daily. The kelp forest tank is open at the top letting sunlight filter down creating the same enviroment as our local coast.
We got to watch divers hand feeding the fish including sharks.
These three beautiful lacy creatures are Leafy Sea Dragons, an ocean fish found in Australia. They float through the water gracefully and resemble a piece of seaweed. Definately my favorites.
We finished our journey with a stop by Whole Foods Market where we assembled delicious salads for our lunch. Another great Thursday.
What a wonderful day! I used to love going to that aquarium years ago when my parents lived in San Diego. Send some of your sunshine up here to the Northwest, please.
