Aqua

Aqua was hard for me in selecting fabrics, I think my block is more turquoise - but it was fun to make.  I have decided to make a different block for the last 4 colors of the challenge, using a little darker background.

EATS

Last night I made a veggie pizza.  Avocado, artichoke hearts, olives, fresh tomatoes, onions, mushroom and cheese - yummie!
This morning I made puff pastry spinach cheese swirls.  They are all dressed up, ready to go to Nancy's for lunch.

Watercolor Journal Dividers

I have completed more monthly dividers that I'm using in my year long journal.  Here are the pages for April and May.  I'm using the left side of the page to write about events that occur each month.  This journal will really be a keepsake for me, a watercolor diary to treasure.

Mint Green

Mint, just looking at the color makes you feel cooler on a warm day.  Mint green is this weeks color challenge and once again, I was able to find most of my fabric choices using the charm squares I have collected.
12 weeks of colors, 4 more to go.

Memories

Here's the lastest addition to my watercolor journal.  My family lived in a little bungalow on Cuvier Street in La Jolla while I was growing up.  My older sister Marcia and I shared a bedroom, played all over the neighborhood and even walked to the beach by ourselves.
I traced a map onto artist tissue paper and adhered it with matte medium to show our little universe while we were young.

Happy memories of long ago.

Father's Day 2012

The greeting card industry sure knows my husband.  He has spent a lot of time in front of the TV with his chair pushed all the way back, sleeping away.  I added the remote control to the card because he gets a tight grip on it and will not let go - even while sound asleep!

Happy Father's Day Storm.

Simple Joys

The greenery left over from a bouquet of flowers
Our neighbors brought us chocolates from Belgium
The origami cranes my daughter sent me for Mother's Day

An early morning siesta

Need I say more . . .

Bubblicious

Bubble gum pink is the color choice for this Wednesday.  I was able to use some pinks I have had forever and this is really a bright star to add to my finished blocks.

Stamp in the Round

Last May 8th was the final session in Jane LaFazio's watercolor journal class.  We started making stamps and I finally got around to finishing mine this weekend.  Using sticky backed foam, I made a 6" stamp of my village in the round quilt.  It is adhered to a sheet of heavy plastic.
Using something sharp (I used the tip of a seam ripper), you can add details on the foam.

How cool is that!!  What a fun, easy project.

Jane starts a new class in July, two 6 hour days - and I will be there!

Garden Orange

I never buy orange flowers to put in my garden, but they have somehow found a way to sneak in.  I have received the roses, hibiscus and kalanchoe as gifts - but I have no idea how the pansies and nasturtiums arrived!  Now I like the orange, it gives the garden little pops of another bright color.

"The Color Purple"

"The Color Purple" is one of my favorite books and it's also the color challenge choice for this week.  Using charms I received in 2 swaps, I had a wide selection of purple or grape fabrics to choose from.
I added a touch of green, turquoise and rust for accent colors.

10 colors finished, 6 more to go (I'm still hoping 15 minutes play adds lime green to the challenge list!).

Mums

These flowers looked so perfect that my husband thought they were artificial.
They are beautiful fresh mums from Costco - and over a week old!

I love having flowers in the house.

So Silly

Red still insists he can fit in the cat bed, he sure doesn't look very comfortable but he is sound asleep.
Poipu managed to find a spot on my messy craft table.  She had burrowed under this little quilt but bolted as soon as my husband took her picture.
