For years I have been saving special greeting cards, magazine clippings, odds and ends, photos and little items I just couldn't throw away. So, I have started a new journal to be filled with fun, whimsical art and good memories.
Here's a toast to some of those wonderful women who fill my life with joy and love!!

Very Clever
Right up the hill from our house is Clairemont High School, home of the "Chieftains". Their school's mascot appeared on this fence during football season.
When you get up close, you realize that it is made from plastic cups squeezed into the Atlas fence. How clever is that? (This one's for you Michelle, Clairemont alumni!)

Girls Love Mail
In the January/February issue of "Cloth Paper Scissors", there was an article about a group of volunteers who send letters and/or art to women recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I wanted to help.
I started with a rectangle painted in yellow, pink and gold.
I folded it in half and then fourths, cutting a slit in the center.
It becomes a little book.
I decorated each page with words of encouragement.
Your letter or art gets mailed to the volunteer group and they forward it to hospitals. I think this is a wonderful, caring idea and if you are interested, visit their website at girlslovemail.com

May Block of the Month
The paper pieced star for May is called Spotlight Star. I had it half finished and decided I didn't like my fabric choices - so I took it apart and started all over again.
6 blocks finished so far, I am enjoying paper piecing - the points come out so perfect!!

May Calendar
I got the chance to catch up on some of my projects this weekend including my May calendar.
I always think of May with flowers, light and blue skies but it's dark, cloudy and starting to rain outside right now. Oh well, the flowers are happy!!

Four Stars
I have been working on my scrap swap stars. For the two white stars, I have been using my own scraps from Kaffe Fassett and Kathy Davis. I love the bright colors against the white and hope to finish 5 more blocks in the next few weeks.
Wishing you all a very merry May!!!
